Belphegor is a blackened death metal band formed in Austria in 1991. The band takes its name from Belphegor, one of the demons of hell. Belphegor, which deals with dark, wild and demonic themes, is known for combining both the harshness of death metal and the dark atmosphere of black metal. The band, which draws attention with its powerful, threatening visuals on stage, has gained a unique place in the blackened death metal scene with its intense music and bold stage performances.

Belphegor’s line-up has changed in various periods, but the core members and duties of the band are as follows:

Helmuth Lehner – Vocals & Guitar: Helmuth, the founder and main creator of the band, plays a decisive role in Belphegor’s music. He is dominant in both the guttural death metal vocal style and dark guitar riffs. He brings Belphegor’s demonic and dark theme to the music.
Serpenth – Bass Guitar & Vocals: Known as the band’s bassist, Serpenth adds both musical depth and stage energy to Belphegor. He provides vocal support along with Helmuth and contributes to the band’s dark aesthetic.

Simon Schilling (Bloodhammer) – Drums: One of the band’s newest members, Bloodhammer, strengthens Belphegor’s blackened death metal style with his fast, intense and technical drumming style.

Albums and Musical Style

Belphegor attracted attention in the metal scene with their debut album The Last Supper, released in 1995. With their satanic and dark lyrics and intense musical structure, Belphegor became one of the pioneers of the blackened death metal genre. Some of the band’s most well-known albums are Lucifer Incestus (2003), Pestapokalypse VI (2006), Bondage Goat Zombie (2008) and Conjuring the Dead (2014).
